There are five different kinds of materials that you will be gathering. Fiber, Ore, Hide, Stone, and Wood. Each of these has different sub materials that you can collect. Some are very common and some are super rare, like so rare, wars will be waged in areas that are rich in a particular resource!

Albion Online has a huge world and the different biomes have different resources, forests, swamps and mountains for example. It is best to look at the map before you head out as you can see which biome has the resources you want. So set up in a city that is close to an area that has the materials you want to gather. Do not just wander around aimlessly. Look at the map and actually make a plan of where you want to go and what you want to gather.
